Material: glazed stoneware

Raili Keiv has created a series of ceramic works with a unique rounded base so that the object moves and swings when it is touched. This form is derived from a traditional Estonian roly-poly doll known as Jonnipunn. The round shape and dynamic playful character contrasts with the sophisticated minimal surface, making the Dancing series a sculptural art piece on its own.

Raili Keiv is a ceramic designer whose work is closely connected to the essence of the materials she uses. She works mainly with porcelain and stoneware while regularly combining these with other materials. The materials she uses are both the substance of and the inspiration for her design. Raili Keiv´s handmade artworks have machine-made precision - the objects are carefully casted from stoneware at the designers’ studio in Tallinn, Estonia.
