Hidden form

Side table
Material: Lasnamäe limestone

"Hidden form" side table explores the next generation limestone usage: designer Oliver Kanniste is looking for possibilities to use the usual exterior building material - limestone - as an interior material. His “Hidden Form” side table is made from Lasnamäe limestone, a building material traditionally used in Northern Estonia. Limestone, an organic, sedimentary rock, is formed in layers. He has continued these layers in his design, giving shape and body to the weighty side table.

Oliver Kanniste is currently studying product design at the Estonian Academy of Arts. When working with materials, he very much enjoys the process - the possibilities of joining materials and the surprises he encounters. As a designer and a craftsman, Oliver Kanniste values smart material usage, he carefully plans the material cuts to avoid excessive waste. Mostly, he works with natural materials and resources locally from Estonian factories, workshops etc. It is also his way to find inspiration and collect stories from experienced people.
