The Bride

Lamp
Material: paper, brass, steel

The Bride lamp embodies a truly feminine design and the grace of an airy material. The Bride’s “dress” is created from paper and inspired by a wedding ritual — the braiding of a bride's hair by older women while giving the bride a blessing for her new life. Entirely handmade, each Bride lamp has its own braid pattern and a unique personality. Each lampshade interacts with light differently, providing a delicate and emotional lighting design.

Ieva Kalēja launched the brand mammalampa in 2009 as a family-owned company. The brand’s name, which combines “mum” and “lamp”, reveals the fact that a feminine perspective dominates in the design, and the lamps are handmade by women. mammalampa imagines materials in an unexpected light and creates its own distinctive style free of clichés.
